Rodelinda:
An Opera
Compos'd by Mr. Handel.

London, Cluer, 1725

* f M.1500.H13.R6 1725

One of Handel's two primary publishers of his operas, John Cluer produced beautiful editions will illustrated title pages filled with allegories, not necessarily relating to the opera itself. This fine example depicts the face of the harp-player resembling that of Handel. To save costs, Cluer recycled the illustrated title pages, merely by substituting titles of the new composition while jettisoning the old. Examples of this practice include Handel's Admeto and Alexander; other composers were not exempt from this practice.
