Arie del'Opera di Rinaldo
Composta dal Signor Hendel [!]
Maestro di Capella di Sua Altezza Elettorale d'Hannover

London, John Walsh, 1711

* f M.1505.H13.R5 1711

Handel's first great success in London premiered February 24, 1711 at the Queen's Theatre in the Haymarket. Two months later, John Walsh, in what would be a long - if not always troublefree - commercial relationship with the composer, published Handel's first English opera score. The illustrated title page was not engraved solely for this opera; common to publishing practices of the time, Walsh recycled the page with titles of compositions of other composers as well. A humorously pithy report on the performance appeared in The Spectator shortly after the first performance.
